(Belated) Fashion Friday: Shopping

One of those days when I dressed up to school instead of going back home to change first. It feels kinda weird really, cos the thing about science faculty: you look like the bimbo stuck among the brains when you dress up a notch higher than the hot pants & shirt combination. Oh, don’t get me started on wearing wedges to school!

Anyway, I’m so obsessed with printed bottoms now, it’s driving me (best friend and boyfriend) nuts. Haha opps. I really want to get my hands on that pair of leggings. Really, really do. I’d probably cry if it goes out of stock. Drama, I know but I find it so refreshing to step out of my comfort zone. It’s all about being bold and trying out new things this 2013!

Fashion Friday: Walk-A-Date!

I made a few shopping rules for myself last year and I’m so happy to know I still abide by them even now. Shopping in Singapore is a rather expensive hobby, one which isn’t worth it in my opinion. The prices are still not low enough even during the sales period, when it’s supposed to make me feel a little less guilty to splurge. Yikes! New Look and H&M, however, were an exception. They literally slashed their prices; 70%! And we all know that good quality items for less than $20 is a steal. Hehe.

Yesterday’s walk-a-date made me mentally plan of what to get and I really, really hope that the things I want will still be available when I make a trip down to town again (with my trusty shopping partner, of course!)

December Favourites!

Happy new year everybody!! May this new year bring new hopes, aspirations and opportunities to explore every joy of life. Have a promising and fulfilling 2013 :D

First entry of the year. Wow, time flies. I can’t remember my last favourites entry but I finally did one last month. I’ve got to thank my dearest cousin though. If she hadn’t suggested that I do a collaboration video with her, I probably wouldn’t have done December favourites. I still get very nervous whenever I have to speak in front of a camera, especially since the video’ll go up on YouTube. Guess I still need to get used to it. I’ll get better..eventually.

Do check out my cousin’s YouTube channel! She does make-up tutorials and reviews on beauty products. I applaud her courage cos I’ve always wanted to do make-up tutorials but I’m such a coward. So thank you for having me and for doing this video with me. I had lots of fun and I feel less awkward than I did in my Bangkok haul video HAHA.

Till the next favourites video/entry. Enjoy!

Fashion Friday: Singapore’s Victory & Birthday Celebration

I attended a relative’s surprise birthday celebration last Saturday. Parties are always the perfect excuse to look your best but I don’t usually put in much effort in my outfits for gatherings. However, seeing how the family decided to go for a blue theme – symbolic of Singapore’s away kit, I had this random urge to dress up.

I love my new watch so I decided to wear it too. Funny how I think it kinda complements the suspenders. This whole outfit is a really mix of old and new. I haven’t worn my suspenders and heels for the longest time. Guess I finally found an occasion (a reason is more apt) to wear them. As for the top, I foresee myself wearing it often. It’s so versatile. Throw on a pair of jeans for a simple look or pair it with a pencil/peplum skirt to go classy. I really love the dark teal colour and the sexy peek-a-boo sleeves. Too pretty!

I’m finally back with Fashion Friday posts. I don’t have the intention to show off or whatsoever, I just thought it’d be fun to share what I wear on certain days. Have a great weekend everybody and happy new year! :D

Bangkok Haul

I’ve decided to try out something new and as you can tell, I was really nervous. This is my first proper video and I hope to do more travel haul videos in the future. Now, why only when I go overseas, you ask? It’s cause I hardly shop in Singapore anymore. I feel like everything here is overpriced and it’s not worth it to splurge. Oh, my apologies for the poor lighting and super soft volume. I’ll work on that for the next video and feel free to give me feedback on how I can improve. Enjoy the video! :D

Abandoned As Draft: July’s Haul

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I haven’t logged in to my dashboard for a good six months plus & I found this sad entry saved as a draft. It made me realise just how long I’ve abandoned this blog. It has been quite awhile but I’m back with new ideas/segments for this site. If you don’t already know, though I’m the one managing this blog, I do have a few board of directors & a head manager (LOL!) – my made up positions for my boyfriend and best friends. These are the people whom I go to for suggestions/opinions/criticisms and basically anything that would benefit my blog. On days when I lack the drive to be creative, I can always count on them to come up with ideas. Just a rough idea of what goes on behind the scenes of mynakedlunch@wordpress.

For a change, I’ve decided to stick to entries related to make-up & beauty, fashion, travel and WOLS from now on. I thought it would do both me and you good that I make the scope of this blog clear. If you follow me on twitter, you’d probably know that I’ve deleted more than half of my older entries. It was so embarrassing to read them again cause they were all over the place. So with this return, I hope to have a more organised focus. I guess you could call it a fresh start?

I’ve also come up with some new ideas which I thought would be interesting. Of course, they would  just be a mental proposal without the support of Farhan and the rest of WOLS. I’m kinda excited yet unsure about how my readers would feel about it. But let’s just give it a shot shall we? I won’t reveal them now but you’ll find out soon! Hint: I’m sparing you guys from reading long chunks of paragraphs for certain entries.

If this post appears on your Gmail reader or email, I’d like to thank you for the continuous subscription to this blog despite my long hiatus. I’ll try my best to keep up with entries and not make school as an excuse. Feel free to bug me on twitter, instagram or anywhere if I’m gone for too long! ;D

Current Favourites – Lipsticks

I find joy in looking at what people have in their stash, be it watching their videos or physically digging into the stash itself. The latter being more exciting, is one of the many reasons why I love going to the BCF’s house. It’s really weird how I prefer doing that rather than expanding my own stash. And for someone who loves makeup, I own a pretty small stash. The irony lol.

While I enjoy watching videos of gurus showing their ten thousand foundations and whatnots, I can never imagine myself having a collection like that. I prefer the idea of keeping the items I use daily, small. The rule is to have a maximum of three each. I’m only a junkie when it comes to lipsticks & blushers. Probably the best way to tone down or glam up a look, me thinks!

I am not a fan of lip liners. I find that they are just another irksome step that I could do without. But somehow..my itchy fingers decided to get them anyway. You know how cheap stuff often give out the vibe – “you don’t need me, but just get me”. Yup. It’s not really a waste I guess since I got them at 4 bucks each (cos you know, saying 4 bucks each sounds cheaper than $12 heh).

They are not that bad actually. I find that my lipsticks last longer whenever I have lip liner on. Also, they look good even on their own. If you’re bothered by the matte finish, you can top it with transparent gloss and you’re good to go. I have more time on hand now that it’s the holidays, so I pretty much take my own sweet time and add unnecessary (those I won’t do on normal days) steps to my make-up.

I intended to do lip swatches but I find them disturbing. Like, where’s the rest of the face? And when I settled for hand swatches, I realised how awkward and manly my hand looks like in all the pictures ugh.

Top to bottom: NYX Peekaboo Neutral, NYX Natural and Stage Spice Seduction

I’ve been using ZA’s Pure Shine Lips in Nuance Rose like MAD. That’s a big thing considering how I can’t pull off pink lips – I totally blame my dark coloured skin tone for that. It has a pretty pinkish-purplish colour which doesn’t wash me out (mad love for that!) and a nice glossy finish which I love. To the person who gave this to me aka beloved best friend: YOUR LOSS, WOMAN.SUPER NICE LIPPIE YOU GIVE AWAY FOR WHAT!

My very first nude lipstick, ZA Pure Shine Lips in Salmon Rose. Look at how pretty the colour is! Four years and there’s still so much product left. Awesome lipstick and the best thing about the pure shine lips range is the glossy finish. Can’t emphasize how much I love it.

I own way too many dark pink/mauve coloured lipsticks. Many can vouch for that. The best friends will always say the same old line, “but you have something like that already!” every time. Among all that I have though, NYX B52 is definitely my favourite. Hands down.

Last year, I went on a search for a nice nude lipstick. Little did I know, someone else found it for me. Definitely going to get MAC Jubilee again!

Meet my to-go lip balm + lipstick combo, Stage Wonderlust Lipstick in Judy. Best for lazy days or when I ran out of lip balm (like now opps). It’s very moisturising and has a lovely scent.
