I was greeted by a new layout when I signed in. Took me awhile to navigate around before I recall the dashboard link – shows just how long I haven’t been here. My (almost) two months absence was due to school, if it wasn’t obvious enough. I barely had time to sit down and blog, no thanks to the never-ending reports. Guess if you’re in a science course, you really can’t complain about them reports. They are pretty much, and I cringed as I’m typing this, your life. Then again, uni itself is a bitch in general, no matter which course you’re in. Most of you could probably relate.

Blog entries are slowly coming in starting this week due the slow down in my “party-hard-after-exams” activities. I’ve been driving the mother crazy cause I’m out almost every single day. But after all those tough weeks, I sure as hell deserve to embrace my liberation. So how did I celebrate exactly? For one, I’ve been stuffing myself with good food, too much till I pretty much forget the world. The result – me gaining five freaking kgs and having difficulty squeezing my huge ass into two of my brand new skirts. Reality hit me the hard way – forcing myself to run now and get back in shape (but isn’t circle a shape too? lol i kid). Rejoicing too much also means declining digits in the account. That pretty much explains the lack of new goodies for me to blog about. Haul posts will be back soon though, once I get my hands on extra Yusof Ishaks.

My face’s turning into a war zone as of late. I ran out of my face shop Rice Brightening Cleanser and stubborn me refused to get it replaced because itchy hands decided to try out Sukin’s Cream Cleanser after reading Ilyana’s blog. Product won’t make it to her HG list if it wasn’t a good one. Makes sense, no?

This cleanser is made of organic ingredients and is sulphate & paraben free. As stated on Sukin’s website, “This gentle cream cleanser removes make-up and surface grime as it nourishes the skin with oils of rosehip, avocado and wheat germ.” I bought this cleanser with so much hope that it will do wonders to my face. Unfortunately, it dries up my skin and broke me out :( Maybe organic products are not suitable for me, even though this particular one is especially for dry sensitive skin. Can I add that this cream cleanser has a really nice fragrance? It smells so delish, I tasted it on my first try. I wish it would be more than just a nice-smelling cleanser.

So the search for the HG cleanser continues. I wanted something really hydrating and can thoroughly remove any left-over makeup residues and impurities. I read reviews regarding Philosophy’s Purity cleanser and it seems like it’s worth the try. Since Sephora FINALLY brought in Philosophy, I decided to give it a visit. Goodness, I can’t even remember my last visit there. It’s been way too long.

Hopefully this won’t disappoint! ;)

Real Techniques Travel Essentials Brush Set

I’ve been meaning to get my hands on Real Techniques brushes but they were not available here and neither do I own a credit card to purchase it from the online store itself. That can only mean one thing:  Singapore needs to expand its cosmetic brand availability. It’s only under such circumstances will I trouble myself and look for online sellers. Rants aside, I’m gonna get the core collection next. These brushes are incredibly soft and works perfectly. I especially love the multi task brush (pink) – awesome brush for contouring, powder, bronzer and blush. Life is so much easier now.

NYX Powder Blush (Raisin)

Blushes are my weakness so they are always on impulse. Finally a purplish-brown blush. I’m so in love with in, I use it everyday since I got it. On days when I want a natural look, I’ll just use it to contour and I’m set to go. I love the colour pay off and the lasting power too. Not too bad for an inexpensive brand.

MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder (NC35)

Possibly the best pressed powder for me. I tried Revlon’s Photo Ready pressed powder and I didn’t like how dry it makes my skin look. MAC’s pressed powder makes my skin look smooth and flawless. Lenny couldn’t stop touching my face! It feels so light and I love how it sits on my face. Hardly rubs off even after long hours except he areas with concealer. Pretty decent staying power even without touching up.

MAC Select Cover Up Concealer (NC30)

I wanted Select Moisture Cover at first after hearing reviews about it. Found that it was kinda thick and that the colour doesn’t quite match my skin tone. MUA suggested Select Cover Up and oh my god, I was sold. I love how moisturising it feels under the eyes and how it doesn’t settle into the lines. It looks really nice after I set my under eyes with powder. It’s surprisingly good for blemishes too, at least for my case. Did I mention that I love the smell too?

Elf Eyebrow Treat & Tame (Medium)

Recommendations from my cousin, Dayang. The colour isn’t too light nor dark and I love that it comes with a mini spoolie. I appreciate that it doesn’t make me feel like I have gel on my eyebrows too. Hate it when the eyebrows feel “glued” to the skin. This is such a convenient product in my opinion. Filling in my brows is less of a hassle now.

Elf Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara

Another recommendation as well. Works the same as the product mentioned above, just that the brow gel is clear. It comes with a clear mascara too. Good product for school or days when you don’t want to look like you have too much on.

Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser (Almond)

I have a love-hate relationship with this product. I love how light it feels on the skin and that the coverage is buildable. It stays on fairly decently on the skin too. I don’t quite like that it’s colour range doesn’t find my tone. Almond is the closest yet it’s still dark for my skin tone. I’m not quite sure about the oil-free element either cos my face oiled up pretty face whenever I have this on. Considering it’s price, I think it’s best if I find an alternative. I’m thinking of Elizabeth Arden’s tinted moisturiser. What do you think?

Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara

My aunt got a box of 6 for a ripped off price while we were on our flight to Bandung. I enjoy the brush so much, it’s thick and it coats my lashes evenly. It adds volume to my lashes and holds up the curl for a reasonably long time as well. I would prefer it to be blackest black. It’s just not black enough for me. Other than that, I’ve always find that Maybelline carries the best mascaras. So I would definitely repurchase this.

It’s been a good three months since I last updated, so news flash: I’m back from my slumber! Sure, I did have my fair share of fun during my long hiatus but I had a larger portion of internal bleeding. Life pretty much feels like the aftermath of the Japan tsunami now. Anyway, I know I was supposed to update yesterday. Funny story: I ended up having an impromptu baking session with my guy friends. Random plan was random but I was happy. Guess that’s all that mattered ;)

Apparently, make-up shopping also went on a hiatus since my September haul. I was busy with school and I kinda lost the mood to get new stuff. Until after my last paper (which sucked btw but let’s just leave the worrying for later), I figured the best way to uplift my mood was to splurge on make-up. And since smoochiezz’s warehouse is conveniently located near my school, what more can I ask for?

My cousin has been bugging me to try out Elf’s Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder since she got hers. She really love the colour pay-off and after trying out the product, I’ll vouch for that. I love how the bronzer comes out really dark and how the blusher comes out really sheer. I tried it on last Saturday and I’m amazed that it literally remained intact on my face. I looked exactly the same even after a long day – definitely a plus point. I also love how a small amount of both made my cheeks stand out and glowy.

I’ve been itching to get myself a new blush since forever. The initial plan was to get a purplish one, like Plum Foolery but they were out of stock. So I settled for a natural, pinkish-brown tone instead. I love how it lives up to it’s name, Pinch Me. It really complements my skin tone. Ah, me love me blushes!

Louisiana is my first bright lipstick and was totally an impulse buy. I wanted to be a lil’ adventurous hence the hot pink.  The trick is to keep your whole face simple and keep the attention just on the lips. I wore it out once but I guess I still need to get used to it. It feels kinda weird wearing a bright colour out since I’m always for darker colours. Guess it doesn’t hurt to go out of your comfort zone once in a while huh. Change is good.

I’ve stopped using liquid eye liner recently. I realised that liquid liner makes the eyes look fierce. It also has that wet look which I don’t really like. So I decided to try on NYX Eye/Eyebrow pencil in Black/Brown for a change. I used to have difficulty using pencil liners but I’m pretty much a convert now. Its so much faster, looks so much more natural and has a softer finish – the kind which makes you look like you don’t have liner on.

I can’t remember the last time I bought/wore a lip gloss. This really takes me back to my secondary school days. I was attracted to its smell at first, it reminds me of gummy bears. Only after I swatched it on my hand did I really fall for the colour. Such a gorgeous shade of Copper, with tiny gold shimmers. A permanent resident in my bag now.

Um okay, I kinda broke my “no more buying of nail polishes” rule. But seriously. O.P.I for 9 bucks? Whoever can resist that? Plus, I’ve always wanted a red polish. This shade is very flattering, might sound a little cliche, but it’s perfect. I might just put this on before my trip!

Brushes are your best friend. If I could invest on anything make-up related, I’d definitely start off with brushes. I really love the coastal scents angled contouring brush. You can see that I’ve used it quite a bit (looks so dirty lol sorry). It’s super duper soft and I love how it’s long enough to contour my cheekbone. On the other hand, Elf’s blush brush is too hard for my liking. I figured maybe a few washes will make it softer. If that fails, guess I just threw away my six bucks.

sorry,not fiza.she’s been,umm.busy.what with her uni exams and all.makes me wonder how i’m gonna survive.>.<.so anyway,since she hasn’t been updating this blog,i thought i’d give it a shot.unfortunately,i don’t blog about make-up.hahaha.i prefer music.music is like,my life.i listen to all kinds of music.i relate everything to music.yes,everything.
